national wound and limb preservation center
Inside our clinic, you’ll hear a sound that lifts hearts — the clear, joyful ring of our Liberty Bell. It’s more than just a decoration or tradition — it’s a symbol of healing, freedom, and new beginnings.
Dr. Justin Gooden, driven by his deep love for patients and passion for restoring lives, sought out this bell himself. He found it in Maine, one of only 1,800 ever made, and rescued it from a church built in 1852. He brought it home to Kansas as a gift to our patients — a timeless symbol that healing is possible.
Now, when a patient completes their journey, they are invited to ring the bell. The sound fills the clinic — not as noise, but as music of triumph. Our staff, patients, and families pause to celebrate together. We share stories of courage. We smile, we cry, and we cheer for the person who’s just overcome pain and reclaimed hope.
Patients often tell us what they plan to do first once they’re healed — “walk without pain,” “dance again,” “hold my grandbaby,” “go fishing.”
Every ring of that bell carries those dreams into the world.
At MK Wound and Limb Preservation, we believe healing isn’t just about the body — it’s about the spirit.
This bell reminds us that we don’t just treat wounds; we restore lives, confidence, and freedom.
We know others may misunderstand what this bell means, but for us and for our patients, it’s sacred. It’s a sound of victory — a sound of community — a sound of love.
When you hear the bell, know that it means one thing:
Healing has happened here.

When Dr. Justin Gooden first walked through the unfinished floors of what would become our clinic, there was nothing but dirt, dust, and a vision — a vision built entirely around patients and their families. Every detail, every corner, and every color in our clinic was designed with one purpose in mind: to bring comfort and peace to those on a healing journey.
Wounds can be difficult — not just physically, but emotionally. Healing takes patience, courage, and hope. Dr. Gooden wanted every patient who entered this space to feel seen, valued, and loved. During his research into what helps calm and center patients while waiting, he discovered something powerful: the healing power of nature.
That discovery led to one of his most thoughtful choices — our beautiful fish tank. It isn’t decoration. It’s therapy. Studies have shown that the gentle rhythm of fish swimming and the calm of flowing water can lower anxiety, reduce pain perception, and bring peace to the mind. For us, it symbolizes tranquility, renewal, and life.
This fish tank represents more than just beauty. It is a reflection of Dr. Gooden’s heart for healing, his dedication to his patients, and his belief that every person deserves to feel loved and safe during their care.
This is Dr. Gooden’s promise — to create a place where care and compassion flow freely, just like the waters in our tank.
